Bhopal : Thursday, December 28, 2023, Madhya Pradesh getting the leadership of Dr. Mohan Yadav as Chief Minister with an unprecedented mandate, historic state visits of President Smt. Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, unique development schemes, historic meetings of G-20, 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, 7th Global Investors' Summit have made the year 2023 as a year of unprecedented events for Madhya Pradesh. The State remained on top in many sectors of development.

Notable events had started being recorded in the contemporary social, economic, political and cultural history of the State right from the beginning of 2023. In the last month of the year, on 13 December, Dr. Mohan Yadav sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and on 25 December, a 28-member Council of Ministers was formed. With this, the new government is entering 2024 with new hopes and new energetic leadership.

The year 2023 began with the inauguration of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas Sammelan held at Indore, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and concluded by President Smt. Draupadi Murmu.

In the beginning of February, Swaraj Policy 2023 came into existence to serve the interests of the homeless and economically weaker sections. Khelo India Youth Games was organized in a grand manner. Madhya Pradesh won 39 gold medals. Islamnagar near Bhopal got its original name Jagdishpur and regained its identity after 308 years.

Indore Municipal Corporation created a history by issuing green bonds for solar energy. Making another record this month, Madhya Pradesh stood second in the country by building 2657 Amrit Sarovar units.

The month of March began with the Seventh International Dharma-Dhamma Conference, which was inaugurated by President Smt. Draupadi Murmu. Apart from this, Madhya Pradesh remained at the forefront in the country in distributing relief amount for crop damage. Kundalpur Siddha area and Shri Jageshwar Nath area of Damoh were designated as sacred areas and declared as sacred areas.

It was decided to launch Madhya Pradesh State Millet Mission. In the month of April. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the National Panchayat Raj Day program organized in Rewa and reiterated his resolve to strengthen the social, economic and Panchayat Raj system of the village. Burhanpur district became a model district in the country under Jal Jeevan Mission. In this month, the 100th episode of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's famous "Mann Ki Baat" was completed.

In the beginning of May itself, loans worth Rs 2123 crore of more than 11 lakh defaulter farmers were waived off. The state received the best state award for management, conservation and promotion of water resources. Adding a new dimension to the Chief Minister Teerth Darshan Yojana, for the first time in the country, elderly people were taken on pilgrimage by plane. They had darshan Prayagraj pilgrimage. Taking another important decision, the state government legalized all unauthorized colonies developed till 31 December 2022. Further construction of illegal colonies was also banned.

At the end of May, 2752 colonies were declared legal. Also, Swaraj Colony Scheme was implemented to utilize 23000 acres of land free from encroachment. Trial run of metro rail was conducted from Indore and Bhopal, which is important phase of urban infrastructure development. The historic decision to provide gas refill for Rs 450 to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was also taken this month.

In the month of June, an important decision was taken to give e-scooties to the students securing first position in higher secondary school exam. About 9000 such students got e-scooties. Taking forward the cooperative movement, the State Government announced a comprehensive Cooperative Policy. The month of June was also important for infrastructure development when Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged-off five Vande Bharat trains from Rani Kamalavati station.

In the beginning of July, President Smt. Draupadi Murmu visited Sir Jiwaji Rao Scindia Museum, Gwalior. Vikas Parv was celebrated from 16th July to 14th August, in which the people were informed about development initiatives and progress. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission from Lalpur in Shahdol.

The month of July will be notable in the contemporary history of the state as NITI Aayog released its data announcing that 1 crore 36 lakh poor people of Madhya Pradesh have come out of the poverty line. Madhya Pradesh also made a big achievement in digital land record management. It has scored remarkable achievement in wildlife management and gained international recognition by retaining Tiger State status.

In the beginning of the month of August, President Smt. Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the festival of folk tribal expression "Utkarsh and Unmesh" in Bhopal. In the same month, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi reiterated his resolve to develop 34 Amrit Bharat Railway stations with Rs 1000 crore. Madhya Pradesh also remained ahead in Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana. The state received Rs 210.90 crore for the overall development of 1074 villages. Inaugurating the era of social harmony in the state, the Prime Minister performed the bhoomi pujan of Sant Ravidas Memorial and Art Museum at Bartooma in Sagar district.

In the beginning of September, the country's first toll plazas operated by women self-help groups were opened at Agar Malwa's site Chacha Khedi, Ujjain's Kayda and Chhatarpur's Sanjay Nagar.

World famous Sanchi became the country's first solar city. Here solar plants of 63 kilowatt capacity were installed on domestic rooftops. This will reduce the annual carbon dioxide emissions by more than 14,000 tons. Chief Minister Ladli Bahna Awas Yojana came into effect this month. Madhya Pradesh became the first state to form Statistical Commission.

While laying the foundation stone of multiple projects worth Rs 51 thousand crore in the Petro-Chemical Complex, Bina, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that Madhya Pradesh will play a role in bringing India among the top three economies of the world. The spiritual glory was established by installing 108-feet tall statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya at Omkareshwar.

With an announcement of elections in five states including Madhya Pradesh, the code of conduct came into force on 9 October and polling took place on 17 November and the results were announced on 3 December. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party won 163 assembly seats. The polling percentage in the elections was 77.15. The voting percentage of women was 76.03. As many as 1282 Tabla exponents created Guinness book of world records at Gwalior. The Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced to observe December 25 as Tabla Day.
