In a move to improve connectivity and cater to pilgrims during the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh Mela, Madhya Pradesh has approved a metro train project between Indore and Ujjain. This metro line is expected to be operational by 2028, offering a comfortable and convenient travel experience for devotees.
The announcement comes alongside the progress on the Indore Metro project, with 40% of the construction already completed. This metro line will span 31.32 kilometers and boast 28 stations upon completion. Additionally, the first phase of the Bhopal Metro is on track for launch soon, covering a distance of 16.74 kilometers with 8 stations.
Looking ahead, the Madhya Pradesh government envisions expanding metro connectivity to other major cities like Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Ujjain. Furthermore, plans are underway to introduce Vande Metro, rope-ways, electric buses, and cable cars to enhance public transportation options in these cities.
These initiatives are a significant step towards streamlining traffic flow and curbing environmental pollution across Madhya Pradesh.
