The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s close aide Bibhav Kumar in connection to the Swati Maliwal assault case.

NCW has called for a hearing on the matter on May 17 and has ordered all concerned parties to appear before the commission in person.

In case Kumar fails to appear for the hearing, the NCW will “use the route of issuing summons through the police,” sources told News18.

Earlier this week, AAP MP from Rajya Sabha Swati Maliwal alleged that Kumar, the former PA of Kejriwal, assaulted her at Kejriwal’s residence in New Delhi. She called Delhi Police to address her grievance but has not lodged a complaint on the matter yet.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday admitted that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s former personal assistant Bibhav Kumar “misbehaved” with Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP and the former chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

During a press conference, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said, “Yesterday, a condemnable incident took place. Swati Maliwal had gone to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to meet him. While she was waiting for him in the drawing room, Vaibhav Kumar allegedly misbehaved with her. The CM has taken cognisance of the matter, and he will take appropriate action.”
