Madhya Pradesh CM Approves GAIL's ₹60,000 Crore Ethane Cracker Project
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav approved the establishment of India's largest ethane cracker project by GAIL (India) Limited in Sehore district's Ashta tehsil.

Bhopal, June 7, 2024: On Friday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav approved the establishment of India's largest ethane cracker project by GAIL (India) Limited in Sehore district's Ashta tehsil.
This project, with an investment of approximately ₹60,000 crore, will be the biggest of its kind in the country. It will also include a greenfield petrochemical complex, producing petrochemicals like LLDPE, HDPE, MEG, and propylene.
The project is expected to generate employment for 15,000 people during the construction phase and 5,600 during the operational phase. Additionally, a 70-hectare township is proposed within the project area.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav hailed the project as a significant development for the state, emphasizing job creation for locals and boosting industrialization. He also directed officials to expedite land allocation for the project.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project is expected by next February, with commercial production aiming to commence in the financial year 2030-31.
The meeting held at Madhya Pradesh Bhavan was attended by the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation, Mr. Chandramauli Shukla, and Director of GAIL (India) Limited, Mr. R.K. Singhal.
