Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar is a Symbol of Women Empowerment, Cultural Nationalism, and Good Governance: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Devi Ahilyabai Holkar stands as a timeless symbol of cultural nationalism, women empowerment, and good governance. As a visionary administrator, her initiatives in public welfare continue to inspire efforts aimed at inclusive development. Dr. Yadav made these remarks while addressing the audience after attending the theatrical performance "Rashtra Samartha Devi Ahilya Ki Punya Gatha" at Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium in Indore. The play was staged by Vishva Mangalya Sabha as part of the tercentenary celebrations of the revered queen’s birth. The Chief Minister watched the performance along with members of his Cabinet.

Highlighting the enduring relevance of Devi Ahilyabai's governance model, Dr. Yadav said she demonstrated how to lead with competence even in the face of adversity. Her contributions include the construction of temples in Somnath, Varanasi, and Rameshwaram, as well as the development of ghats, dharmashalas, annakshetras, and provisions for priests' honorariums. She also restored the ancient capital of Mahishmati, now known as Maheshwar. Dr. Yadav praised her not only as a visionary ruler but also as an exemplary daughter-in-law and woman of values.

He further noted that on the occasion of Devi Ahilyabai’s 300th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has paved the way for nationwide celebrations of Ahilya Utsav and is expected to attend one such event in Bhopal. To honor her legacy, a special Cabinet meeting is being convened on 20 May at the historic Rajwada in Indore, where policy decisions inspired by her foresight will be taken for the state's development.

Dr. Yadav lauded Vishva Mangalya Sabha for presenting the life and values of Devi Ahilyabai through this meaningful performance. He said that while he had earlier seen a portion of the play in Maheshwar, the complete experience in Indore alongside the Cabinet was deeply enriching.

At the beginning of the event, the Chief Minister and Cabinet ministers were welcomed with traditional Malwi turbans. Among the dignitaries present were Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Rajendra Shukla and Shri Jagdish Devda, ministers Shri Prahlad Patel, Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, Shri Rakesh Singh, Shri Tulsiram Silawat, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Divisional Commissioner Shri Deepak Singh, MP Shri Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargava, and MLAs Smt. Malini Gaur, Shri Madhu Verma, Shri Golu Shukla, and Shri Sumit Mishra, among others.
