Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav today dedicated Madhya Pradesh’s first state-of-the-art Geeta Bhavan in the government sector on the auspicious occasion of the International Geeta Mahotsav and Geeta Jayanti. Dr. Yadav announced that similar Geeta Bhavans will be developed across all municipal corporations, municipal councils, and nagar panchayats in the State. The newly inaugurated Geeta Bhavan in Indore represents a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Under the Geeta Bhavan Project, the historic Gopal Temple complex has been redeveloped into a modern Geeta Bhavan and dedicated to the people of the State. Various advanced facilities have been created in this new Geeta Bhavan through the Smart City initiative.
The event was attended by Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav, MLA Shri Golu Shukla, Shri Sumit Mishra, Shri Shravan Singh Chawda, Chairman of the Scheduled Castes Finance Development Corporation Shri Sawan Sonkar, Shri Gaurav Randive, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade, Police Commissioner Shri Santosh Kumar Singh, Collector Shri Shivam Verma, Municipal Commissioner Shri Dilip Kumar Yadav, Secretary of Bharat Nyas Shri Shriram Tiwari, and Smart City CEO Shri Arth Jain.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the glorious heritage of Malwa, devotion to Lord Krishna, and the message of the Geeta guide the direction of Madhya Pradesh. He said that the region of Malwa is deeply connected with the divine pastimes of Lord Krishna, who received his education in Ujjain. He added that Ahilyabai Holkar restored several religious sites across India and safeguarded the nation’s cultural heritage.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that the Geeta imparts inner strength during struggles and guides humanity throughout life. Every chapter of the Geeta is enriched with knowledge, science, philosophy, yoga, and the spirit of duty. Lord Krishna, through His Virat Swaroop, freed mankind from fear and awakened a sense of duty. He stated that several records were created across the State on the occasion of Geeta Jayanti. The Chief Minister also announced the winners of the competitions organised during the event. The winners are being awarded cash prizes along with e-rickshaws, e-bikes, laptops, and more. He said that the life of Lord Krishna inspires unity, courage, protection of dharma, and resistance against injustice. The Geeta, he emphasised, is a guiding force at every stage of life, showing the path of devotion, knowledge, and karma leading to liberation. The Geeta provides strength during crises, inner power during struggle and direction during confusion, and unwavering companionship in darkness.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Smart City Project has been launched to preserve heritage while accelerating development. The Chief Minister also released two publications, Shrikrishna Charit Manas written by Shri Rameshwar Lakhanlal Patidar and Amrutasya Avantika authored by Shri Raghavdas Panditdas—published by Veer Bharat Nyas under the Department of Culture. He announced a financial reward of ₹5 lakh for Shri Rameshwar Lakhanlal Patidar. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav viewed a dance drama based on the episodes of Lord Krishna’s life, directed by Shri Sanjeev Malviya.
Indore Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav said it is a moment of pride for Indore. He stated that the Geeta teaches that when individuals follow their dharma and duties, their rights are naturally protected. He added that a new cultural resurgence is visible in Madhya Pradesh over the past two years, and under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the State is progressing rapidly from heritage to development.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav Performs Worship at Gopal Temple
Prior to the event Chief Minister Dr. Yadav performed worship at the historic Gopal Temple and prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the State. He also inspected the newly developed facilities at the temple, including the modern library and exhibition gallery.
State-of-the-Art Geeta Bhavan
Under the Indore Smart City Project, the new Geeta Bhavan has been constructed at the Gopal Temple in Rajwada. A key feature of this facility is a state-of-the-art 550-seater auditorium for cultural event, discourses, and educational events.
A serene 50-seater reading hall and a modern digital library have also been established, offering around 1,200 books on spirituality, philosophy, yoga, meditation, Indian culture, mindfulness, and life management. Digital archives provide easy access to e-books, audio-video lectures, online courses, and other digital resources. The library’s interior has been designed with natural tones, spiritual artwork, indoor plants, and soft lighting to create a calm and inspiring environment.
Exhibition galleries have been developed in the redeveloped sections of the temple complex, transforming it into an inclusive cultural space that promotes religious heritage as well as art and culture.
