Agriculture and Horticulture Production Capacity Will Be Enhanced through Innovation and Advanced Technologies: CM Dr. Yadav

Efforts are underway to grant advanced farming the status of an industry
The government is committed to ensuring farmers receive fair prices for their produce
Farmers will become self-reliant in electricity generation through solar energy
Solar pumps to be made available at just 10% of the total cost
The state government is promoting everything from global technologies to local innovations to make farming profitable

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh is becoming economically prosperous. According to NITI Aayog, Madhya Pradesh is the fastest-growing state in the country. In the future, this pace of development is expected to accelerate even further. The state government is working to make farmers self-reliant on electricity. Farmers will now generate their own electricity using solar energy and operate pumps independently. If they produce more electricity than they consume, the state government will purchase the surplus and make payments accordingly.

Solar pumps will be provided at just 10% of the total cost. For solar pumps ranging from 2 HP to 5 HP, farmers will only need to deposit 10% of the cost, while the rest will be covered by the state government. This scheme will free farmers from electricity bills. As many as 3.2 million solar pumps will be distributed within three years. Farmers will be able to generate electricity for irrigation, household use, and other purposes.

CM Dr. Yadav was addressing the Agri-Industry Conclave: 2025 in Sitamau (Mandsaur). He praised the diverse produce grown by farmers in the Mandsaur-Neemuch region and stated that the event in Sitamau was organised specifically to promote advanced agriculture.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to making agriculture profitable by promoting everything from foreign technologies to local innovations. Efforts are underway to grant agriculture the status of an industry. The government is working to ensure farmers get fair prices for their produce, facilities for long-term storage, and local food processing infrastructure. Madhya Pradesh produces several key crops like oranges and bananas in large quantities. These should be branded under the Madhya Pradesh name to boost their market presence.

Dr. Yadav administered a pledge to farmers to continuously strive for prosperity by adopting advanced farming, horticulture, fruit cultivation, processing, and related agricultural activities. He also noted that satellite technology can detect stubble burning. Burning crop residue reduces soil fertility, and he urged farmers to avoid this practice. Machines are being provided for residue disposal, with subsidies available.

He said that the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal River Link Project will transform the lives of farmers in the Ujjain division by ensuring irrigation water reaches every farm. The state is also promoting cow-rearing to boost milk production. Cows are a symbol of our culture, and to promote cow and buffalo rearing, a 25% subsidy will be provided for keeping 25 cattle. Madhya Pradesh currently contributes 9% to the country’s total milk production, and this is targeted to increase to 20%. Farmers can avail subsidies for rearing up to 200 cattle (8 units). Dairy products like milk and curd are integral to our culture. The state government is also offering subsidies to support horticulture, fruit orchards, and dairy along with farming.

He urged farmers to utilise every inch of their land productively to improve their lives. Each district in the state will develop a Vrindavan Village, equipped with schools, colleges, and other facilities, alongside incentives for advanced farming. The grant for the care of stray, injured, or abandoned cows has been doubled from ₹20 to ₹40 per cow.

The government has also launched an Air Ambulance Service to provide immediate assistance during disasters. Referring to the recent release of cheetahs in the Gandhi Sagar area, Dr. Yadav said this will boost tourism and generate employment through homestays and other activities. The state government is committed to increasing the income of citizens by promoting agriculture, horticulture, industries, religious, and other forms of tourism.

He also announced that CM Rise Schools will now be known as Sandipani Vidyalayas. Lord Shri Krishna had travelled through Rajasthan to Ujjain for his education; all villages along his route and sites of his divine acts will be developed as pilgrimage destinations. Geeta Bhavans will be built in every urban body of the state. The Chief Minister approved four Sandipani Vidyalayas and one tehsil building for the Mandsaur district. He also announced an extension of the Agri-Industry Conclave exhibitions by one more day.

Highlighting the rich archaeological heritage of Mandsaur and Neemuch, Dr. Yadav said the state government is working sensitively to conserve these treasures. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state remains committed to farmer welfare. He emphasised expansion of irrigated areas, improved power access, and respect for farmers' labour through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. The River Linking Campaign is set to significantly increase irrigated land in the state.

Minister of Horticulture and Food Processing Shri Narayan Singh Kushwah said that Madhya Pradesh, being an agrarian state, is consistently progressing in both agriculture and horticulture. The state government is promoting the use of modern techniques and high-quality seeds to boost production. It is also encouraging food processing units to add value to the produce. Various subsidy schemes are being implemented to ensure farmers get better returns.

To facilitate better market access, Seller-Buyer Meets are being organized by the government. Horticulture has grown rapidly in Madhya Pradesh, making it a leading state in spice crop production. The government aims to establish more food processing industries within the state to help farmers get better prices. He described the Agri-Industry Conclave as a significant step in this direction and said such events will be held at other locations as well.
