Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that a stadium worth Rs. 10 crore will be built in Chhatarpur. Along with this, a 30-acre gaushala, a Kanya Vivah Bhavan, and a community hall worth Rs. 1 crore will also be constructed. The construction of a new medical college will be expedited, and an adjoining hospital will be set up.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that with the completion of the Sagar–Kabrai four-lane road under the MP–UP Economic Corridor, the travel time from divisional headquarters Sagar to Chhatarpur will be reduced to just two hours. On Saturday, he participated in the Shri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav at Chhatarpur, where he also broke the traditional ‘makhan-filled matki’ and joined a roadshow.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said, “Lord Ram traveled from North to South and Lord Krishna from East to West. To understand Indian culture, one must remember them. Across the world, India is identified with Shri Ram and Shri Krishna. Their courage to fight great powers and destroy evil in its own territory inspires us.” He further said Bundelkhand is the land of warriors, recalling the valor of Maharaja Chhatrasal and heroes Alha-Udal. He praised Chhatarpur’s glorious past, highlighting Khajuraho World Heritage Site, Panna’s diamonds and Panna’s tigers.
Ken–Betwa Link Project to Transform Bundelkhand
CM Dr. Yadav said that former CM Sushri Uma Bharti initiated the river-linking mission, and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi fulfilled the dream of Atalji and Uma Didi. The Ken–Betwa Link Project will benefit Bundelkhand’s farmers by providing irrigation water. He said “When fields get water, crops shine like gold. This project is a boon for Bundelkhand. The region will surpass Punjab and Haryana in grain production.” He also noted that tourism today functions as an industry. At the recent Gwalior Regional Tourism Conclave, investment proposals worth Rs. 3,500 crore were received, creating new employment opportunities for youth.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav recalled initiating the process to convert Chhatarpur College into a university during his tenure as Higher Education Minister, assuring that no state commitment would remain unfulfilled. The government is developing pilgrimage circuits where Lord Krishna’s footsteps fell, similar to Shri Ram Van-Gaman Path. He spoke of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana, launched to support farmers by subsidizing cattle purchases, with the government also buying milk from cowherds.
Highlighting youth empowerment, Dr. Yadav said over 22,000 police recruitments have been made and 1 lakh new posts created. Alongside jobs in industries, self-employment is being promoted. Under ‘Ladli Behna’ Yojana, Rs. 1,500 was transferred to beneficiaries on Raksha Bandhan, and from Bhai Dooj after Diwali, Ladli Behnas will continue to receive Rs. 1,500 every month.
Central Library Inaugurated
CM Dr. Yadav inaugurated a modern Central Library in Chhatarpur’s Irrigation Colony, built at a cost of Rs. 5 crore. He emphasied the role of libraries in knowledge acquisition and interacted with students, urging them to make full use of the facility.
Forest and Environment Minister Shri Dilip Ahirwar said the day was historic for the city of Maharaja Chhatrasal, noting ongoing projects like Shri Ram Van-Gaman Path, Shri Krishna Pathey, Mahakal Lok, and Omkareshwar Lok.
MLA Smt. Lalita Yadav said 60% of the medical college work in Chhatarpur has been completed, Chhatrasal College is progressing, and the city will soon get a new bus stand, auditorium, and municipal corporation status. She suggested building Chhatrasal Gates in all four directions to preserve the city’s heritage. Shri Jagdish Yadav, State President of Yadav Samaj, praised the CM, comparing his welfare efforts with those of Shri Krishna for the marginalised.
