In a high-profile ceremony on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, accompanied by senior BJP officials. The "Sankalp Patra," as the paper is known, is a comprehensive list of policy proposals meant to promote social welfare, increase economic growth, and fortify national security.

Here’s a look at the promises for various groups and sectors:

For the impoverished: Key among the promises are a continuation of the free ration under the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for the next five years, aimed primarily at aiding the poor.

For women: In a significant push toward rural and women’s empowerment, the BJP plans to enable three crore rural women to become “Lakhpati Didis,” integrating women’s self-help groups with the service sector. There are plans to improve infrastructure near industrial hubs, such as building working women’s hostels and expanding health services with a focus on diseases like anaemia and cervical cancer.

For farmers: Addressing farmers’ needs, the party intends to strengthen the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme and expand the Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana with technological upgrades for quicker claims processing. Furthermore, the manifesto proposes a new Krishi Infrastructure Mission to upgrade agricultural infrastructure and the launch of an indigenous “Bharat Krishi” satellite to support farm-related activities.
