PM Modi calls for consensus in the Rajya Sabha on the Women's Reservation Bill

The passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill by the Parliament, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will inspire renewed confidence in the nation’s citizens.

“This Bill will lead to a new confidence in the people of the country. All members and political parties have played a significant role in empowering women and enhancing ‘Nari Shakti’. Let us give the country a strong message,” PM Modi said in Rajya Sabha before voting on the bill.

PM Modi pushed for unanimity in favour of the Bill.

PM Modi claimed that over 132 members participated in the fruitful discussion on the Women’s Reservation Bill that took place in both Houses over the course of the previous two days.

In a quick response to the day-long Rajya Sabha debate on the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2023, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal stated that the bill would be enacted after following the proper procedures.

After moving to the new Parliament building on Tuesday, the first measure that will be voted by Parliament is the “Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.” On Wednesday, the Lok Sabha approved the bill.
