In mentor Mahesh Bhatt's aching Saaransh, Anupam Kher made his acting debut at the age of 29 as a retired common guy who was above 60. In 2024, he has been acclaimed as the most successful actor on numerous occasions, finished over 500 films, authored two highly motivational books, hosted a show called Manzilen Aur Bhi Hain, and hosted a chat show about the inner lives and unseen challenges of actors and filmmakers.

Kher added, “I then received a letter from my grandfather at Kirron Kher’s house who was my friend then. He asked me to wait for a little longer and told me ‘Bheega hua aadmi baarish se nahin darta.’”

The actor added that he was turned down for a job because he was becoming bald and had lost all of his hair. "Even though I won a gold medal for acting, I was asked to become an assistant director or writer," he remarked. My savings started to run out, and the individuals who were providing for me at the time also became worn out. I once had to spend 27 days sleeping on a train station because I had nowhere else to go, but I wasn't wallowing in my misery.
