Beijing - China has unveiled the CR450, a prototype for its next-generation high-speed train, aiming to claim the title of the world's fastest.

The Ministry of Transport announced that the CR450 has achieved test speeds of up to 450 kilometers per hour (281 miles per hour) and is designed for an operational speed of 400 kilometers per hour (248.5 miles per hour). If deployed commercially, it would surpass China's current flagship, the CR400, which operates at 350 kilometers per hour and debuted in 2017.

Developed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles and CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd., the CR450 is lauded for its exceptional operational speed, energy efficiency, noise reduction, and improved braking performance.

This development further solidifies China's position as a global leader in high-speed rail technology.
