 The Lakme Fashion Week 2023 season kicked off with a bang on Wednesday, October 11 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Designer Rahul Mishra's debut was a spectacular showcase of Indian art and global beauty. Mishra’s collection features exquisite embroidery, exotic flowers, vibrant colors and flowing designs.

Other designers who showcased their collections on the first day include Anith Arora of Pero, Kallola Dutt, Kriti Tula and Rudraksha Dwivedi. Arora's collection was a stunning depiction of Indian culture, with playful prints and exaggerated designs. Dutt’s collection dates back to the 1960s and 1970s and featured bold colours, geometric patterns and flared pants. Tula’s collection was a celebration of Indian textiles, with sarees, lehengas and kurtas with intricate embroideries and patterns.

Dwivedi’s collection was a modern take on traditional Indian menswear, with sharp designs and innovative fabrics. Several celebrities took to the ramp on the first day of Lakme Fashion Week, including Saba Azad, Alai F, Jim Sarabh and Hina Khan. Azad ended the show with a stunning ivory gown with intricate embroidery for Rahul Mishra. F into Anith Arora in a sporty printed dress with extra sleeves. Sarabh walked for Kallola Dutt in a retro-inspired outfit with a flared jacket. Khan closed the show with a sharply tailored pantsuit for Rudraksha Dwivedi.

Overall, the first day of Lakme Fashion Week was an incredible day for Indian fashion. The designers presented a collection ranging from traditional Indian paintings to world-class objects with modern twists. Celebrities walking the ramp made the event more lively.
