Reliance Industries Gets Green Light to Resume Venezuelan Oil Imports

Mumbai: Indian energy conglomerate Reliance Industries has secured approval from the United States to recommence crude oil imports from Venezuela, according to a Bloomberg report. This development comes despite ongoing sanctions imposed by the US government on the South American nation.

Reliance was once a major buyer of Venezuelan crude before the initial imposition of US oil sanctions in 2019. Following a brief relaxation of sanctions in October, the company reapplied for a license to resume imports.

The approval is expected to provide Reliance with a new source of crude oil and potentially lower its refining costs. However, it also raises questions about the effectiveness of US sanctions on Venezuela.
