Ratan Tata is admitted to a hospital in Mumbai in critical condition.

According to two people with direct knowledge of the situation, Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, one of the largest conglomerates in India, is in critical condition in intensive care at a Mumbai hospital as of Wednesday.

Tata, 86, announced on Monday that because of his age and other medical issues, he was going through standard medical exams.

An inquiry on Wednesday for an update on Tata's status was not immediately answered by a spokesman for the company.

Tata posted a statement on his social media accounts on Monday, stating that he was still in good spirits and that there was nothing to be concerned about.
