As individuals made their last purchases to commemorate the happy occasion on Sunday, Pune's markets are a flurry of activity, strewn with candy and vibrant clothing. The festive attitude is reflected in the bustling operations of bakeries and retail establishments. The lively ambiance has been enhanced by stalls offering bangles, henna, and ornamental things. Additionally, as the Muslim population got ready to celebrate Eid on Monday, seviyan (vermicelli) and dry fruit vendors saw a spike in traffic on Sunday.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Eid, traffic diversions have been put in place in Pune city to manage the flow of vehicles and ensure the inconvenience to the commuters. The Pune Traffic Police has issued a notification informing people about the diversions and alternate routes.
As per the notification, starting at 6 am on the day of Eid in Pune, the city traffic control branch will enforce the traffic regulations that will remain in effect until Eid Namaz is completed. Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zende has issued a notification announcing the changes.
Eid ul-Fitr or Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. It is an auspicious festival celebrated by Muslims all over the world. In India, Eid 2023 will be celebrated today on March 31.
The upcoming traffic modifications in Pune will specifically apply to the Golibar Maidan and the Kondhwa region. However, government vehicles on duty and emergency service vehicles will be exempted from these changes.

There will be several traffic diversions in place during the Eid namaz at Golibar Maidan in Pune.
Traffic between Bhairobanala Chowk and Golibar Maidan Chowk on Solapur Road will be closed.
Heavy vehicles going to Swargate via Solapur Road will turn left from Bhairobanala Chowk and will go to their desired destination from Lullanagar via Prince of Wales Road.
Heavy vehicles going to Pune Station and the city have been banned. Light vehicles will go to their desired destination via Empress Garden. Vehicles going to Swargate from Golibar Maidan will turn right from Seven Loves Chowk (Dhole Patil) Chowk and turn right from Khatav Bungalow via Salisbury Park and go to Lullanagar or Solapur Road.
Traffic between Solapur Bazaar Chowki and Golibar Maidan Chowk will be closed. Drivers should go to their desired destination via Khane Maruti Chowk in the Camp area, Poolgate Station via Solapur Bazaar Chowk, Napier Road, Khatav Bungalow Chowk.
Traffic coming from Lullanagar Chowk to Golivar Maidan Chowk will be closed. It has been appealed to follow the instructions given by the traffic police and use alternative routes.
Eid prayers will take place at multiple Eidgah grounds in Pune, and the local traffic divisions will implement traffic alterations in the relevant areas, if necessary. To avoid congestion, all large vehicles such as PMPML and State Transport buses that travel to and from Kondhwa will be rerouted via Gangadham Chowk.
There will be namaz prayers at several Eidgah locations throughout the city. If necessary, local traffic divisions will implement traffic adjustments in their respective zones. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zende issued the notice of traffic adjustments and diversions.
