The Centre is launching a number of healthcare initiatives during "Seva Pakhwada," beginning on September 17—the 73rd anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birth—and lasting until Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

The projects will be introduced as part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's (MoHFW) 'Ayushman Bhava' campaign, which is set to be virtually inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu on September 13.

The autumn session of the Assam Legislative Assembly will begin on Monday, with the administration expecting to propose more than 20 measures.

The five-day session will come to a close on Friday. The session will be conducted in the Assembly's new structure, which was opened in July by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Several new measures, including the Panchayat Act Amendment Bill, will be introduced by the state government during the session. In addition, the administration intends to introduce legislation to elevate selected institutions in the state to the status of universities.

The Karnataka Transport Department has taken preparations to deal with the Bandh called by private bus, taxi, and auto unions.

Transport Minister Reddy told ANI that he has issued directives to bus operators to ensure that the public is not inconvenienced. The transport minister directed that government buses be used on routes to schools and institutions in Bengaluru.

He also requested that extra buses be stationed near hospitals so that patients are not inconvenienced.

Udhampur forest division seize illegal timber, 2 held, 2 officers suspended

The Udhampur forest division of Jammu and Kashmir has confiscated 185.817 cubic feet of illegal timber from the Chenani region of the district, and two people have been detained, authorities said on Sunday.

According to the statement, two personnel were suspended following the seizure, and a departmental investigation would be launched on them.

According to the official announcement, the in-charge block officer of Gharrian and the in-charge Beat Guard of the forest department have been suspended and assigned to the DFO office in Udhampur for further investigation.

Seven people were killed when the construction lift in an under-construction 40-storey building collapsed on Sunday evening in Balkum area in Thane city of Maharashtra, officials said on Monday.

The Thane Municipal Corporation officials on Monday identified the deceased as Mahendra Chaupal (32), Rupesh Kumar Das (21), Haroon Shaikh (47), Mithlesh (35), Karidas (38) and Sunil Kumar Das (21). The seventh deceased has not been identified yet, the officials said.

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu enters Rajamahendravaram central prison

Officials claimed Telugu Desam Party chairman N Chandrababu Naidu arrived at the Central Prison in the early hours of Monday after a court in Vijayawada sentenced him to 14 days in judicial prison in a multi-crore corruption case. 

He arrived at the jail after travelling approximately 200 km from Vijayawada to Rajamahendravaram in the East Godavari district.

"Chandrababu Naidu went in the prison around 1:20 am," East Godavari district Superintendent of Police P Jagadish told PTI.
