Here is how India reacted to Iran's drone attack on Israel: "We are closely monitoring."
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed grave concern over the escalation, highlighting the threat it poses to regional peace and security
Iran launched almost 300 explosive drones and fired missiles on Israel late on Saturday, marking a dramatic increase in regional tensions. The Israeli operation on April 1st, which targeted the Iranian embassy in Syria and resulted in the deaths of 12 persons, including two top generals of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), prompted this retaliation strike, which the IRGC named "True Promise." There were reports of serious injuries, including a 7-year-old girl, following the attack, which caused widespread panic throughout Israel.
India’s call for calm
Reacting to the burgeoning crisis, India issued a statement on Sunday urging for an “immediate de-escalation” and a return to diplomatic negotiations. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed grave concern over the escalation, highlighting the threat it poses to regional peace and security.
“We are seriously concerned at the escalation of hostilities between Israel and Iran which threatens the peace and security in the region[…]We are closely monitoring the evolving situation. Our Embassies in the region are in close touch with Indian community.
It is vital that security and stability are maintained in the region,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
