Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that a new thermal power station will be established in Madhya Pradesh to accelerate industrial development in the state. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has granted approval for coal allocation for coal-based electricity generation. This will facilitate the establishment of thermal power stations with a total capacity of 4100 MW. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, expressing gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi, said that he has provided all departments with opportunities for progress. He acknowledged that development is impossible without electricity and described this as a significant opportunity that would allow the state to set up its own power plants.

Coal Allocation to Act as a Lifeline
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that while the state is currently in a surplus position regarding electricity production, the growing demand for electricity due to the establishment of new industries requires an increase in power generation. From a future perspective, new thermal power stations will be necessary. The coal allocation will serve as a lifeline in meeting this demand. He emphasized that the government will encourage entrepreneurs to set up new thermal power stations. At the same time, Dr. Yadav highlighted that the state is also making significant strides in renewable energy.
Investment of Rs. 25,000 Crore Expected
Energy Minister Shri Pradhuman Singh Tomar said that based on the projected long-term electricity demand for Madhya Pradesh, the Government of India’s high-level inter-departmental committee approved the coal allocation for the establishment of 4100 MW of new thermal power plants on November 27. In this regard, the state’s energy department will issue tenders for setting up the plants. This initiative is expected to attract an investment of approximately Rs.25,000 crore. Additionally, it will generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities. The state will continue to supply affordable and high-quality energy to industries, domestic consumers, and agricultural irrigation, while also becoming self-reliant in energy production.
