Education System that Builds Self-Reliant and Self-Dependent Citizens is best Suited for Nation State Government Working with Target of Doubling Education Budget in Five Years Chief Minister Addresses ‘One-Day ‘Become a Karmayogi’ Workshop Workshop Held at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre
Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that education must be made relevant to contemporary needs by linking it with real-life experiences. An education system capable of making individuals self-reliant and independent can lead the nation toward prosperity and strength. He said that the National Education Policy, implemented under the guidance of Narendra Modi, is a meaningful step toward achieving these objectives. One of the central objectives of the policy is to streamline the education system by reducing structural and procedural complexities. It is a matter of pride that Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states in implementing the National Education Policy 2020.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressed a one-day workshop of the Apex Advisory Committee on ‘Become a Karmayogi’. He inaugurated the workshop at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre by lighting the ceremonial lamp and offering floral tributes to Goddess Saraswati. Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar and Additional Chief Secretary Anupam Rajan were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that universities are not merely degree-granting institutions, but dynamic workshops where the nation’s future is envisioned, nurtured and shaped. Citing the Bhagavad Gita, he said that performing one’s duty with excellence and efficiency is true yoga. When we speak of a ‘Karmayogi academician’, we are not merely envisioning an ideal but striving to create an academic environment where teachers do not simply deliver lectures but inspire students. Institutions must function with a clear sense of purpose while adhering to established rules and regulations. Students should not only seek jobs but also actively participate in nation-building. Teaching must be made more relevant and life-oriented. Greater emphasis is also needed on the social utility of research, and the gap between degrees and employment must be bridged.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that, in view of Madhya Pradesh being an agrarian state, agriculture faculties have been established in universities and colleges across the state to strengthen sector-specific education. Industrial activities in the state are expanding steadily, creating demand for skilled manpower across sectors. In line with industry requirements, the State Government is introducing relevant courses in engineering colleges, polytechnics, ITIs, and other technical institutions. This will generate local employment opportunities and enable youth to better utilise their skills and capabilities. Through such initiatives, the vision of creating Karmayogis will be realised.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav further stated that the State Government has resolved to double the state’s available budget within the next five years, with a view to accelerating inclusive development and strengthening public welfare measures. To achieve this, five-phase goals have been set, focusing on one key sector each year. In this sequence, the year 2026 is being observed as the Year of Farmer Welfare. Comprehensive targets have been set for 16 departments related to the rural economy, which will help fulfil the government’s resolve to double farmers’ income. He emphasised the need to revive a culture of collegiality. Quoting Lord Krishna from the Gita, he said that performing one’s duty is supreme. Under the resolve of ‘Abhyudaya Madhya Pradesh’, education plays a central role. To achieve the goal of a Developed India by 2047, it is imperative to establish world-class universities that are globally competitive and academically excellent. The objective is to make Madhya Pradesh a model state for value-based, quality-driven, and employment-oriented education. The “Become a Karmayogi” workshop is a serious and committed step in this direction.
