Delhi Excise Policy Case: ED issues fresh summons to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Excise Policy matter: On December 21, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) called Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to be questioned on the Delhi Excise Policy matter.
The ED has called Kejriwal in line with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has called the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) twice now. On November 2, the central investigating agency had previously called him in. The Delhi CM, however, had made the decision to forego the summons.
The AAP leader had claimed that the ED’s notification calling him in for interrogation was unlawful and politically motivated. The Delhi Chief Minister had urged that the ED summons be withdrawn.
“The said summons is not clear as to the capacity in which I am being summoned i.e. as a witness or a suspect in the above-mentioned case. Please recall the said summons, which is, to say the least, vague and motivated and I am advised, unsustainable in law,” Kejriwal had stated in his letter to Jogendar, Assistant Director, ED.
