Congress to release manifesto for Lok Sabha election today
The Congress will release its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections today, with its focus on the ‘Paanch Nyay or ’five pillars of justice’, according to a Hindustan Times report. Top leaders of the Congress, including party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former party presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, will reportedly release the manifesto. In its manifesto, the Congress will lay emphasis on Paanch Nyay, including ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Naari Nyay’, ‘Kisaan Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’ and ‘Hissedari Nyay’ as well as the guarantees made by it to the people as part of its election promises for Lok Sabha polls.
ECI issues notice to Chandrababu Naidu for “derogatory” remarks
The Election Commission of India has issued a notice to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu for alleged derogatory remarks against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The TDP chief was issued notice on Thursday for purportedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during his campaign speeches on 31 March by allegedly referring to CM Jagan as “Monster,” “Animal,” “Thief,” and various other offensive terms. As per the notice issued by the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu has been given 48 hours to provide an explanation regarding the derogatory remarks made against the YSR Congress Party and its leader, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The notice was issued following a complaint filed by Lella Appi Reddy, State General Secretary of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), and another individual.
