Bhopal, 27th May 2024:The Association for Sustainable Rural Empowerment (ASRE) is proud to announce the expansion of its digital literacy program, aimed at bridging the rural-urban divide by providing essential digital skills and access to online resources for rural citizens. This initiative underscores ASRE's commitment to promoting inclusivity and empowering rural communities in the digital age. In today's increasingly digital world, access to digital technology and literacy is essential for social and economic inclusion. However, rural areas in India often lack adequate infrastructure and resources, leading to a significant digital divide. Recognizing this disparity, ASRE has taken proactive steps to address the issue and empower rural citizens with the necessary digital skills and knowledge.
Dr. Pankaj Shukla, President of ASRE, expressed his optimism about the expansion of the digital literacy program, stating, "At ASRE, we believe that access to digital technology is a fundamental right that should be available to all, regardless of location or socio-economic status. By expanding our digital literacy program, we are not only providing rural citizens with the skills they need to navigate the digital world but also empowering them to seize new opportunities and improve their quality of life."
The digital literacy program, spearheaded by ASRE, will focus on three key components. Firstly, it will offer comprehensive training sessions to rural citizens, covering basic digital skills such as using computers, smartphones, internet, as well as navigating online and ways to secure from cyber fraud platforms and applications. These sessions will be conducted in local languages and tailored to the specific needs of rural communities. Secondly, ASRE will work diligently to ensure that rural citizens have access to essential online resources, including educational materials, government services, healthcare information, and e-commerce platforms. By facilitating access to these resources, ASRE aims to empower rural individuals to make informed decisions and improve their overall well-being. Lastly, the program will include digital literacy workshops and community events designed to raise awareness about the importance of digital literacy and provide hands-on training to rural citizens. These workshops will serve as forums for sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas, and building digital skills in a supportive environment.
Dr. Ranjan Kumar, Chief Economic Advisor of ASRE, highlighted the significance of the digital literacy program in promoting economic development and social inclusion, stating, "In today's knowledge-based economy, digital literacy is a prerequisite for participation and success. By expanding our digital literacy program, ASRE is not only empowering rural citizens to access new opportunities but also creating a more inclusive and equitable society."
ASRE is committed to ensuring the success and sustainability of its digital literacy program, with a focus on reaching underserved rural communities and marginalized populations.
