According to reports, a Ukrainian sniper killed Russian servicemen above 13,000 feet, breaking the global record.

According to reports, a Ukrainian sniper unit killed Russian forces from over 13,000 feet (4,000 meters) away on Thursday, shattering the record for the longest documented sniper kill in history.

Two Russian soldiers were killed in the Pokrovsk, Ukraine, area by the shot, which was fired by a gun made in Ukraine with the help of artificial intelligence and drone supervision, according to the Kyiv Post.

"The record-breaking shot was made on Aug. 14, 2025, using artificial intelligence under the guidance of [an unmanned aerial vehicle] complex with a 14.5 mm alligator rifle," the Kyiv Post reported, citing military journalist Yuri Butusov.

The shooting took place amid increased Russian attacks in the area surrounding Pokrovsk, which was once a city with more than 60,000 residents, the Post reported.

According to the outlet, a 58-year-old Ukrainian sniper set the previous world record by taking down a target at a distance of about 12,400 feet (3,800 meters).

According to reports, the historic shot happened the day before President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin's highly anticipated summit on Friday.

Putin, who spoke first in a joint press conference held by the two world leaders, described the talks as a "constructive atmosphere of mutual respect."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with Trump in Washington, D.C., Monday.

Zelenskyy said in a post on X that he and Trump will "discuss all of the details regarding ending the killing and the war."
