Oxford University Press in collaboration with Bhopal Sahodaya Complex organised a training program for foundational and preparatory teachers
The workshop aimed at catalyzing educational transformation through NEP 2020 and NCF 2023 to foster the holistic development of young learners
Bhopal, Oxford University Press India, a department of the University of Oxford, in collaboration with Bhopal Sahodaya Complex, organised a professional development
program for the foundational and preparatory level teachers of Bhopal and neighbouring districts.
The workshop-themed "Engage, Explore, Empower" aimed at empowering early-stage teachers to create dynamic, student-centered learning environments that support holistic development, foster exploration and inquiry, and set the foundation for future success in the 21st century. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Gurjit Kaur Bhatia, an academic advisor, and professional trainer, Ms. Shilpi Bhattacharya, Sr. Manager – Professional Development, OUP, and chaired by Rev. Father Sebi Edattukaran CMI, President, Bhopal Sahodaya Complex. The training program was designed per the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) goals and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2023) for early education, to enable teachers to adapt and customize teaching processes, considering the children’s age, interests, and learning abilities. It included interactive sessions, hands-on activities, and collaborative discussions with foundational and preparatory stage teachers.
Dr. Gurjit Kaur Bhatia underscored the importance of equipping early-stage educators with the tools to craft vibrant, student-focused learning environments that nurture holistic growth and inspire
inquiry-based exploration. The teachers were introduced to innovative pedagogical techniques tailored to early-stage education, such as skill-based learning, STEAM (Science, Technology,
Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activities, and inquiry-led instruction. Teachers explored methods to nurture curiosity and critical thinking in students from a young age, preparing them for
the next stages of learning. Anchored in the NCF 2023’s skill-based framework for foundational learning, these innovative programs empower educators to harness technology, tailor learning
experiences, and advance their professional development, ultimately enriching the educational journey for students.
Fr. Sebi Edattukaran CMI, said, “At Sahodaya Group, we aim to empower member schools, their principals, and teachers through regular training sessions, helping them acquire the necessary skills
for 21st-century teaching and learning. Today’s workshop, in collaboration with Oxford University Press, helped the teachers of Bhopal learn new strategies to create active, engaging, and inclusive
classrooms that cater to diverse learning needs in the foundational and preparatory stages.
Integrating experiential learning, play-based activities, and multidisciplinary approaches in their teaching practices will encourage teachers to foster holistic growth in young learners.”
