Massive Cyberattack on X, Suspected to Originate from Ukraine Region – Elon Musk
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has revealed that his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) was hit by a massive cyberattack.

Washington: Tech billionaire Elon Musk has revealed that his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) was hit by a massive cyberattack. According to Downdetector, more than 60,000 users reported outages on Monday.
In a post on his personal X account, Musk stated, "We are attacked every day, but this one was executed with a lot of resources." He speculated that the attack involved "either a large, coordinated group and/or a nation-state."
Musk claimed that the attack originated from IP addresses linked to the Ukraine region. He also responded affirmatively to an X user who suggested that the attackers were trying to silence him and the platform.
Downdetector Report and Impact on X
Outage-monitoring website Downdetector reported that X experienced two major disruptions on Monday, with tens of thousands of users facing issues.
Some users also encountered Cloudflare error messages, which read, "The web server is returning an unknown error," when attempting to access the site. The last major outage affecting X occurred in August 2023.
Musk Accuses Democratic Groups of Coordinated Attack on Tesla
In another post on X, Musk accused the Democratic fundraising platform "ActBlue" of possibly orchestrating coordinated attacks against his electric car company, Tesla.
He claimed that an investigation found five ActBlue-funded groups—Troublemakers, Disruption Project, Rise and Resist, Indivisible Project, and the Democratic Socialists of America—were behind the anti-Tesla protests.
Violent Attacks on Tesla Dealerships
Over the past few weeks, more than 50 Tesla dealerships across the U.S. have been targeted by protests. While many protests were limited to calls for Musk to "step down," some incidents resulted in property damage.
In Seattle and Colorado, Tesla dealerships were set on fire, with several Cybertrucks burned. In an earlier arson attack, vehicles were defaced with "Nazi Cars" spray-painted on them and were then firebombed with Molotov cocktails. A suspect, Lucy Grace Nelson, was arrested but was released the next day on a $100,000 cash bond, causing frustration among local law enforcement agencies.
Musk’s Growing Ties with Trump
Musk, a long-time critic of the Democratic Party, publicly endorsed Donald Trump for president after last year’s failed assassination attempt on the former president. Since then, he has become one of Trump's closest advisors and now leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative aimed at eliminating waste and mismanagement in government agencies.
Following these events, both political and cybersecurity investigations into the attacks on Musk and his companies are expected to intensify.
