Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ Reboot to Premiere at Sundance: Full Festival Lineup Announced

The Sundance Institute unveiled the festival’s complete lineup on Wednesday, featuring projects from Lopez, Benedict Cumberbatch, A$AP Rocky, Olivia Colman, and many others. The festival will run from January 23 to February 2 in Park City, Utah.

Kiss of the Spider Woman Returns

Lopez stars in the remake of Kiss of the Spider Woman, produced by her ex-husband Ben Affleck, alongside Matt Damon and others. Based on Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel, the story was first adapted into an acclaimed 1985 film starring William Hurt, Raul Julia, and Sonia Braga, with Hurt winning an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. It was later adapted into a Tony-winning Broadway musical in 1993.

The new version features Diego Luna alongside Lopez. The drama follows a political prisoner who bonds with his cellmate, who recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical starring his favorite silver screen diva, Ingrid Luna, played by Lopez.

Other Festival Highlights

The festival will also premiere the dramedy If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, starring Rose Byrne, Conan O’Brien, and rapper A$AP Rocky, about a mother on Long Island navigating personal challenges.

Additional world premieres include:

  • Olivia Colman and John Lithgow in Jimpa
  • Train Dreams, starring Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon, and William H. Macy
  • Rebuilding, featuring Josh O’Connor and White Lotus breakout star Meghann Fahy

  • Sally, chronicling the lesser-known life of Sally Ride, the first American woman in space
  • Sly Lives!, exploring the legacy of funk band Sly and the Family Stone
  • One to One: John & Yoko, examining the transformative 18 months John Lennon and Yoko Ono spent in Greenwich Village in the early 1970s
