Foreign Secretary Misri briefs parliamentary panel on India-Canada tensions: Report
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has briefed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs on the ongoing India-Canada tensions, according to a report

According to a source, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs has received a briefing from the Union government regarding the ongoing tensions between Canada and India.
India-Canada relations had been strained for a while, but early this month, when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau targeted Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and other diplomats, the relationship fell apart. Senior Canadian diplomats stationed in India, including the Canadian chargé d'affaires, were expelled by India, which also withdrew Verma and other senior officials.
India Today reports that Foreign Secretary Misri met the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs on Friday, October 25, in response to requests for a briefing on the issue from the Congress and other opposition parties.
According to sources who spoke to the TV channel, Misri provided the committee with some information regarding the tensions, but they added that since the issue is still very delicate, additional information will be provided later.
According to sources cited by the news station, the committee was briefed on the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the India-China deal over disengagement in Ladakh, and the problem of Indians trapped in the Russia-Ukraine War, in addition to the tensions between India and Canada.
