Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, on Friday, conducted a thorough review of the schemes and activities of the Tribal Affairs Department at Samatva Bhavan the Chief Minister’s residence). During the meeting, he reviewed all ongoing schemes and development programmes aimed at the welfare of the state’s tribal communities. The progress of these programmes was examined in detail to assess their effectiveness and ensure their successful implementation.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav instructed the officers of the Tribal Affairs Department to prioritize development works in tribal areas and ensure their speedy completion. He emphasized the importance of implementing schemes on time and in a plannedmanner to benefit the tribal communities. Dr. Yadav stressed the need for concrete efforts to empower these communities by accelerating initiatives in education, health, skill development, employment generation, and infrastructure development. He further directed the officers to provide employment-oriented education to tribal students, focusing on holistic and advanced educational systems that will brighten their futures and enhance their capabilities. Dr. Yadav suggested studying the education models for tribal communities in other states to incorporate best practices and create a more effective, employment-oriented education system for tribal students in the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of constructing cow sheds in tribal areas as a means to bring about a radical improvement in the economic condition of tribal communities. He highlighted the need to encourage tribal people to rear good breeds of milch animals, as milk production and dairy products would play a crucial role in improving their economic situation and overall standard of living. Dr. Yadav also stressed the need for focused attention on education, health, and employment generation in tribal areas to empower tribal communities.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the empowerment of tribal communities through the PESA Act, has significantly contributed to their development. He acknowledged the visible improvements in tribal villages, calling it a commendable achievement. Dr. Yadav directed the government to offer special incentives to preserve the musical instruments of the tribes and protect their ancient heritage. He also emphasized the promotion of village tourism in tribal areas, noting that home stays could provide additional sources of income for tribal people. He urged for comprehensive efforts to be made to develop and support this initiative.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in tribal areas, people who provide leadership to their social structure should be identified and public awareness work should be undertaken in collaboration with them. Social organizations like Gayatri Parivar should be associated with saving the tribal youth from drug addiction and for their social and family protection.
Chief Minister Dr.Yadav emphasized the importance of ensuring that children residing in hostels and ashram schools for tribal students do not face any inconvenience. He stressed that all basic facilities should be made available in these hostels to provide a comfortable and conducive environment for the students. Dr. Yadav urged for immediate recruitment to fill departmental posts, including backlog vacancies. He expressed satisfaction over the creation of a new cadre of hostel superintendents for managing the Tribal Affairs Department’s hostels and suggested that a fixed number of staff should be regularly recruited for these positions. The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for innovative and inclusive efforts to ensure the overall development of tribal communities, ensuring that their welfare and progress are given utmost priority.
Tribal Affairs, Public Asset Management, and Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah stated that the state is making innovative efforts to empower tribal communities. He informed that the department plans to recruit approximately 4,800 hostel superintendents in a phased manner to ensure the smooth functioning of hostels and ashram schools. Dr. Shah also drew the attention of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav to certain shortcomings identified during inspections by secretary-level officers, who evaluated the operations of hostels and ashram schools in tribal areas. He emphasized that for better hostel operations, it is essential for hostel superintendents to reside on the hostel premises itself, and the department is working towards implementing this requirement.
Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain said that books, uniforms, bicycles, bedding or other necessary items to be given to students in all departmental schools, hostels, ashram schools and other educational institutions run for tribal students should be distributed between April and June-July. Ensure that all these materials distributed at the government level reach the students on time.
Principal Secretary Tribal Affairs, Mr. Gulshan Bamra, informed that technical means are being used to ensure that tribal beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh receive the benefits of various government schemes and civic amenities. He shared that the work done under PM Janman in the state has been highly appreciated by the Central Government. Following the success of PM Janman, the Central Government launched the ‘Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan’. This campaign aims to provide the benefits of 25 different schemes, services, and facilities from 17 departments to tribal communities in tribal-dominated villages across the state. Shri Bamra also highlighted that the state government has sent various development work proposals to the Central Tribal Affairs Ministry as part of this campaign. He provided detailed information about the departmental schemes and their effectiveness through a PowerPoint presentation (PPT).
Additional Chief Secretary, Chief Minister’s Office Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Commissioner Tribal Affairs Shriman Shukla, Deputy Secretary Tribal Affairs Smt. Vandana Vaidya, Additional Commissioner Smt. Rita Singh, Additional Commissioner Smt. Seema Soni and other departmental officers were present in the meeting.
