Bhopal : Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav today paid a courtesy visit to Union Home and Cooperatives Minister Shri Amit Shah at his office in North Block, New Delhi, and discussed various issues related to Cooperatives in the state.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is progressing in the field of Cooperatives under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership. He informed that recently the state government has agreed to manage and operate the Dugdha Sanghs through the National Dairy Development Board for the next five years. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that this agreement will increase the income of cattle rearers and dairy farmers in about 11 thousand villages. To strengthen the cooperative sector, the state government will form multipurpose cooperative institutions in these 11 thousand villages. Dr. Yadav informed him that Sanchi Dugdha Sangh will be upgraded with the increase in milk production in the state. The Sanchi brand will be further improvised.

Madhya Pradesh leads in milk production after Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Five and a half crore liters of milk is being produced every day in the state. In terms of per capita availability of milk, the situation of Madhya Pradesh is better than the national average. While the daily availability of milk per person in the country is 459 grams, in Madhya Pradesh it is 644 grams. The target is to double the milk production of the state in the next five years for which, the cooperative sector will be strengthened to benefit farmers and cattle rearers. Efforts will be made to increase milk production in about 40 thousand villages of the state. At present the situation of milk production in 10 to 15 thousand villages is satisfactory. Efforts will be made to increase milk production in the remaining villages through various measures.

National Dairy Development Board works for the expansion, and strengthening of milk cooperatives in the country, milk production, milk marketing, technical advice, milk processing, animal breeding, latest technical advice related to animal husbandry, etc. In a meeting held with the National Dairy Development Board, the Board agreed to extend cooperation in increasing the capacity of animal husbandry, milk production, milk collection and strengthen the processing and distribution system in Madhya Pradesh.

Union Home Minister Shri Shah lauded this innovation of the state government and suggested working on it in the entire state. Shri Shah also assured all possible assistance from the Central Government in the efforts being made in the cooperative sector.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav expressed the hope that food processing and agro-based industries along with dairy farmers of the state, will benefit from this decision. Farmers will have full participation in not only the raw materials but also their products for agro-based industries. He also informed Union Minister Shri Shah about the Regional Industry Conclave being organized at the division level to promote employment and industry in Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also thanked the Central Government for the decision to procure soybean crop at the minimum support price.

Key features of tri-partite MoU

  •  A tripartite agreement was signed between the National Dairy Development Board, Madhya Pradesh Animal Husbandry, and the State Dairy Co-operative Federation.

  •  Cooperative coverage will be expanded through dairy cooperative societies.

  •  To increase farmer training and cooperative dairy coverage, farmers will be involved in product organizations, self-help groups, and Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (M-PACS) registered under the Cooperative Act.

  •  The quality at various stages of milk collection, transportation, and processing will be improved.

  •  Optimum utilization of existing infrastructure, plant technology upgradation, and end-to-end digitalization.

  •  The marketing activities of milk and milk products in the market will be strengthened apart from marketing in other states and policy suggestions for export abroad.

  •  Positioning and capacity building of human resources will be done. Best practices will be adopted in the election process for dairy cooperative societies.

  •  Consensus on revival of Dugdha Sangh of Gwalior and Jabalpur and policy suggestions for reorganizing the scope of work of Jabalpur Dugdha Sangh besides establishment of reorganized Jabalpur Dugdha Sangh for Jabalur division and new Rewa-Shahdol Dugdha Sangh for Shahdol and Rewa divisions.
