Could Mysterious Cosmic Light Flashes Be Powering Alien Spacecraft?
Bhopal: Bizarre flashes of cosmic light may actually be generated by advanced alien civilizations, as a way to accelerate interstellar spacecraft to tremendous speeds, a new study suggests. Astronomers have catalogued just 20 or so of these brief, superbright flashes, which are known as fast radio bursts (FRBs), since the first one was detected in 2007. FRBs seem to be coming from galaxies billions of light-years away, but what's causin...Read More
Cold War-Era Satellites Spy on Himalayan Glaciers
San Francisco: The Cold War may have ended decades ago, but spy satellites data from that era are now being used for a new mission: tracking environmental change in the Himalayas. Using declassified spy satellite data, researchers have created 3D images of glaciers across the Himalayas, scientists said. These maps provide the first consistent look at 40 years of glacier change across Asia's high-mountain region. Early results from these models were presented here Monday (Dec. 12) at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union. The new 3D maps revealed how the Himalayas' glaciers have behaved i...Read More
Alien Life May Munch on Galactic Cosmic Rays
New York: Extreme microbes that live in hostile places on Earth may feed off of cosmic rays that zip through space, according to a study of a bizarre bacterium thriving deep in a dark gold mine. If life exists on other planets such as Mars, it too could be gobbling up cosmic rays in order to survive, the new study suggests. "When you have radiation penetrating deep below the surface, where there might be water on Mars or [Jupiter's moon] Europa, then it could start chemical reactions that life could use," said study author Dimitra Atri, a research scientist at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Sc...Read More
NASA urged to send CONDOMS into space to protect against invasion of HORNY ALIENS
New York: WORRIED alien hunters have urged NASA to send condoms into space in case randy aliens invade. The Swedish lobbyists known as the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU) is pressuring the space agency to send contraception into space as they may come in "handy" if aliens have sex with "some hot earthlings". The campaigners said in a video directed at NASA: "We know that you guys sometimes send stuff up into space so that whatever life is out there will get an idea of what goes on here on Earth. "Even though we can't be sure what the aliens' sex organs look like, a condom mig...Read More
'Surprising Jupiter activity': What will NASA reveal?
USA: NASA have found evidence of "surprising activit" on Jupiter's icy moon, Europa, and speculation as to what the space agency is preparing to reveal has gone into overdrive. Last week, NASA announced that they will be holding a media call on Monday (September 26) at 2 p.m. EDT to reveal new findings and images captured by the Hubble Space Telescope which contains "surprising evidence of activity" on Europa.
Monday, we'll announce new findings from Jupiterís moon Europa. Spoiler alert: NOT aliens: Read More
